Thundercrack! makes national news
by tobymarx
. . . that is if anything on Fox can be called “news.” In a piece headlined “Perverts Put Out,” Fox talking heads get their panties in a twist over San Francisco Frameline’s screening of a thirty-five-year-old film. It’s heartwarming to know that Thundercrack! still offends the delicate sensibilities of conservative prigs, but watching them express their outrage on national television is exquisite. I would like to personally thank Rupert Murdoch and especially Roger Ailes and his minions for giving national publicity to Thundercrack! I know that George (Kuchar) also thanks you, as would Curt (McDowell) if he were still with us.
Disclaimer: I developed the original story concept for Thundercrack! with friend and director Curt McDowell and also wrote and performed the film’s score.

great news!
😉
Well, in its own way it is. Mostly I thought it was funny to watch the Fox people rant and rave about Thundercrack! being such an indecent piece o’ crap while at the same time showing so many clips from the film.
Fox is really fucked up, the announcer showed such horrified fascination that it can only be good for Thundercrack
It’s hard to imagine any kind of publicity actually being bad for Thundercrack! People who have seen the film either love it or loathe it; there is no in between.
By the way, nm, have you ever seen it? I think you’d get a kick out of it.
Does the complete score still exist? Did you consider putting it out on CD or LP?
Sadly, the master tapes were lost in 1995.
That’s a real shame! The excerpts you posted sounds amazing.
Is there any way to listen to more of your music?
ALL of my master tapes were lost in ’95. Here’s a link to everything I’ve been able to recover, all from a cassette tape I made for a friend back in ’89: http://www.box.net/shared/n3xjohe5ik. The quality is what you’d expect from an old cassette tape, but it’s listenable. I hope you enjoy it.

Thank you very much. It’s great!
You’re welcome. Glad you enjoyed it.
was walking past the essex hotel and thought of you, what with its metal historical plaque and all. it’s also featured on that “new tenderloin” mural on leavenworth – i consider leavenworth at mcallister a true “southern portal” into the wonder/blunderland of the tenderloin. and saw later another historical designation metal sign on the, i think it was, bernard hotel? please, as shown by the checked box below, notify me of new posts from you.
Will do.
